WE LOVE YOU!!!

We talked a lot in February about how much we love our families!!!! I heard some awesome reasons and our friends REALLY love all of you!!!! Please enjoy the last day of February with our special video!!!

Rock Star Kiara!!!

Kiara was our rock star last week and we just loved learning about her!! She had lots of special visitors and even sang us some of her favorite song!! Her mom and dad came for lunch and grandma surprised her on Friday afternoon after school. She also had some special gifts ( a unicorn & balloons) sent to the office by her grandparents!! She felt so LOVED that week. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite book is Barnyard Baby!! Her favorite movie is Frozen and her favorite sport is volleyball. She loves horses and her favorite food is Cheese Pizza. Her favorite song is "Let It Go" (thanks for singing that for us!!) When she grows up she wants to be a designer...sounds awesome! She is a special kid because she loves her family!! Kiara you are such a rock star!! Also, thanks for letting me read your book and for sharing your toy!!

Is February almost over?!?

This week is conferences and I am super excited for you all to come back to school with your kindergartener so we can talk about all of the amazing things we are learning and doing during the school day! If you can’t make it to your schedule time please let me know so we can figure out a time to meet!  

In writing this week we will continue to work on our 3 part stories and make sure that our sentence flow together well and will be learning about the writing trait of fluency! I really am excited to show you your child’s writing!

In math we will continue to learn more about number partners and math mountains (we will practice drawing those tiny tumblers – we have found out that they sure are tiny)! We will also be learning more about addition equations and how to solve them!

During health we will continue to do activities from our nutrition kit, we have loved learning about the five food groups and can’t wait to see what else is in the kit! On Friday, Ms. Alyssa is going to come back and pick up our kit and do another fun activity with us. We will be reviewing all the things we have learned about nutrition and take a little test and then we will get to make and then eat our yummy pudding.

In Literacy we will be talking about where animals live. Our vocabulary words are habitat, wild, complain, join, and stubborn. We are going to read a super fun book called “Bear Snores On” and also “Anansi, An African Tale” and “Animal Homes”. In our crabby book we will be reading “A Vet in a Van” and during guided reading your child will either read “We Want Water” or “A New Home”. We will continue to work on the strategy of making, confirming, and revising our predictions, but will also talk about the plot of the story and cause and effect. We will also be learning the words “said” and “want” and focusing on the letters X and V.

Boy oh boy it will be another fast fun week in kindergarten! Remember Tuesday is a PLC day so it is early dismissal!

Rock Star Kalai!!

Kalai was our rock star last week...and some of this week because of that darn snow!!! He had so much fun telling us all the cool stuff about himself and his family!! We loved learning about him! His favorite color is blue and his favorite book is The Amazing Spiderman. The movie he likes best is Spiderman!! Kalai loves to play soccer and his favorite animal is a warthog (that was the first time I've heard that one:)) He loves pizza and happy meals (which his awesome parents brought him for lunch). His favorite song is I'm Glad You Came...which he performed for us!! When he grows up he wants to be a police officer or soldier! If he could go anywhere in the world it would be Disneyworld and he is a super special kid because he loves his family. Kalai was so lucky that his grandparent's sent him a cool balloon and yummy cupcake...I am SUPER bummed that I forgot to take a picture on our crazy Friday, but I think his grandma and grandpa are pretty awesome!! Rock Star Kailyn!!

Kailyn was our rock star last week and we had so much fun!!! Her favorite color is purple and her favorite book is Shoe-la-la!! Mrs. Schroeder really enjoyed this book as well!! It was super cute!! Her favorite movie is Frozen and she loves to play volleyball. Her favorite animal is penguins. If she could eat any kind of food it would be mac & cheese!! Her favorite song is "Let It Go." When she grows up she wants to be a nurse. If she could go anywhere in the world it would be Hawaii (and I would be glad to come along!!) She is a special kid because she loves her family. Kailyn you rock!!!

100th day!!!

Last week we celebrated the 100th day of school and it was SO much fun!!!! We had already made our super cool hats and counting mats..thank goodness....because we just would not have had time!! We started off the day by checking out all of the 100 year olds in our classroom and then we made pictures out of 100 squares...and the kids were so creative!! We spend some of the afternoon with Mrs. Woita's friends making necklaces from 100 fruit loops..we had to count them out on our own!! Then, we made a snack using different items...of course, we had 100 total!! We squeezed in time for lots of pictures and even made a video saying what we would buy with $100!! I can't wait to see what the end of our school year brings....these kids have already gotten so smart!! Please enjoy our video of the crazy fun and cute 100 year olds!!!

Math night fun!!!

Last week we had a great time at math night!! We played games, had a guessing jar, and got to take some cool stuff home!! At math night I tried to play our awesome video about what we would be when we grew up and why we need math. Of course, technology decided not to work on me and we had NO sound!!
